Marcus C. Illions
(1872-1849)
Native of Vilna, Lithuania. Immigrated to Germany, then to Great Britain at age 14 as an apprentice carver for Frederick Savage. Immigrated to America in 1888 with Frank Bostick. Carved circus wagons. Started carving for Looff around 1892.
Began freelancing with William F. Mangels in 1900. Started M.C. Illions & Sons in 1909.
