Large juvenile cartoon cat (Tom from Tom and Jerry) by Mexican carver Luis Ortega. From the renowned collection of Walter and Mary-Lawrence Youree. Restored and painted by Edwige Pionieer Colt. Excellent Condition. Stand included.
Many Mexican carousels were reserved for children. Small machines usually moved from village to village. Cartoon characters such as Tom, Superman, Bugs Bunny and others were for the most part stationary and did not move up and down like in the United States.
