CA 1912 Stein and Goldstein Flowered Lead Horse – SOLD

Circa 1912 Stein and Goldstein Lead Horse – SOLD

One of the two most famous carousel horses of all time – worldwide. (The other being the Illions rose horse). This huge flowered lead horse donned the cover of Charlotte Dinger’s quintessential book, Art of the Carousel. The deep relief of the carving on the roses on this horse surpass even those on the “rose horse”.

A once in a lifetime opportunity to own and become the caretaker of the most exceptional carousel figure of all time.

One of the largest horses ever carved, this Stein and Goldstein lead horse, embelished with ribbons, tassels and roses is Stein and Goldstein at their best. Gold and silver leaf, washed by the years, blends with the rich patina of the body paint. The exquisite horse, at one time, was on the carousel at Rockaway Beach, New York.
