Description
Ca. 1907 Dentzel/Oscar C. Buck jumper
This nice inside row swept mane jumper is in excellent condition. Purchased from Charlotte Dinger in the early 1990s, it was considered a Dentzel jumper (and actually is) as it came off of a Dentzel carousel. Most recently, however, information surfaced from the descendent of a “Golden Age” American carousel carver and maker named, Oscar C. Buck. Horses identified by experts as most likely being O.C. Buck carved figures are often inner row jumpers and appear on the Disneyland Dentzel/Mix carousel, and the Floyd Moreland Seaside Heights Dentzel/Mix carousel. Two horses on the Griffith Park Spillman carousel, once thought to be Carmel are now thought to be Buck.
