Description
Daniel Muller’s finest Denzels…
Interestingly, this very handsome and noble thoroughbred, distinctly more realistic than most, expressive and regal Dentzel horse head style were not all that many, a few on each carousel. And it is this style of both sensitive and alert Dentzel head that is found on some of the nicest horses to come from the Dentzel factory, like the rare flag and eagle horses. Also interestingly, both “Painted Ponies” and “Art of the Carousel” attribute this great Dentzel face to the artist Daniel Muller, though once thinks it to be from closer to1900 just before Muller went off to carve his own carousels, and the other thinks closer 1920, when Muller returned to Dentzel with some new style horses. Whether earlier or later or maybe both, the sensitivity and realism of these particular Dentzel-Muller horses is among the pinnacle of all carousel horse carving.
