“Flying Horses” carousels have no standing platform. Centrifugal force keeps the riders and animals secure together whereas with a platform carousel the animals do not lean out and the centrifugal force acts solely on the riders.

This machine is safe, solid and simple, it can run indefinitely with very little maintenance. The electric motor has a cable remote off/on from the perimeter and from another switch in the middle. The hand crank mode is easy to employ or disengaged by slipping on or off the V-belt at the motor in the center. This carousel is so smooth and balanced a young person can crank the ride even when fully loaded. It is common to have a line of kids waiting at the gate for the ride, another little team managing the ring catching device, and also a waiting list of two or three other kids that want to operate the crank. This is not a free-for-all ride, it requires operator supervision. Although it is intended as a children’s ride, all animals, the chariot and the swing seats are built to carry adults too. Like all carousels the placement of the riders around the carousel must be balanced.
