Ca. 1910 Stein & Goldstein Outside Row Flower Basket Jumper

* Thanks to the recent story in The Carousel News & Trader on the last wooden carousel in Wildwood, NY, the Sportland Pier “Yankee Doodle” Stein & Goldstein, circa 1910, we may have found provenance on this beautiful horse. I found a number of S&G carousels with “Flower Basket Horse” both operating, like Harford, and no longer operating, like Belchertown. As well as photos of other S&G “Flower Basket” horses. Although they are all very similar, there are some very clear, and some more subtle differences in ribbons and other trappings, and right down to the blown hair on the mane. Taking into consideration how heavy the park paint may have been on the older photos from Wildwood, this certainly seems to be the horse, where it is clear different from any other “Flower Basket” S&G I found.
