Ca. 1910-’20 Dentzel Rabbit from Knotts Berry Farm – SOLD

The original Knott’s Berry Farm Dentzel menagerie carousel was replaced by another Dentzel carousel in the mid 1950s. The figures from the original Knotts Dentzel carousel would be the highlight of The Bud Hurlbut Collection Carousel Art Extravaganza auction in Anaheim, CA, in 1990. The Dentzel lion topped them all that day selling for $76,000 gavel price. The Dentzel tiger brought $57,500, while this rabbit and it’s mate, both shown on page 20 in the catalog, sold for $37,500 each that day.
